Byron Bay Surf Festival Is Back

Save the date! Wednesday 20 February the Byron Bay Surf Festival returns for its biggest year yet. Five epic days, jam-packed with surf, sustainability, music, art and culture!

Say hello to your annual favourites including, the Surf Art Markets, Surf Legends Lounge, live tunes at The Beach Hotel and Freestyle & Stoke Surf Sessions at Wategos plus more. A celebration of our local region’s unique surf culture, there will be over ten free and ticketed salty events across the five-day festival.

Meet this year’s line-up of guests including surfing World Champions, female leaders, inspiring musos, photographers and artists.

It all begins on Wednesday 20 February, at the McTavish Factory in the Industrial Estate with a short film, photo exhibition and words from surfing’s first World Champ Tom Carroll.

Thursday be inspired at the National Photography Competition hosted by Byron Bay photographers Ming Nomchong and Craig Parry at the McTavish Outpost. Next up, Vaughan Blakey will host the Surf Legends Lounge at the Community Centre, talking to Rasta and Mark Occhilupo about boards, fins, surf culture, the future of the industry and our planet.

We’re excited for Friday… which injects female power into this year’s program with The Women’s Panel at the Beach Hotel.  An event not to be missed, special guests include 7 x World Champion Steph Gilmore, 2 x World Champion Lisa Anderson and 2 x Longboard World Champion Kelia Moniz.

Saturday morning join the Clean Coast Collective crew and help clean up Byron’s gorgeous beaches. In the arvo cruise through the Surf Art Markets before heading to the Beach Hotel for rocking live tunes and a few sunset beers.

Sunday, prepare for the Freestyle & Stoke Surf Sessions at Wategos Beach. Grab your crew and get down for party waves, the McTavish Trim, dress-ups and good times. To top it all off, a big Festival Wrap-Up Party at the Beach Hotel will close the festival Sunday evening, with cold beers and groovy beats!

So, lock in the dates Wednesday 20 to Sunday 24 February and don’t miss the 2019 Byron Bay Surf Festival. Follow Byron Bay Surf Festival on socials or sign up to the newsletter for all updates and info.
