VINTAGE SHOPPING GUIDE TO BYRON BAY AND BEYOND – PART 2
Sarah from Vintage & Co. Industries is back with part two of her vintage shopping guide to Byron Bay and beyond, brimming with vintage love. You can follow her Instagram @vintage.industries.co
LISMORE COLLECTABLES – LISMORE VINTAGE
Attention all rockabillies – or anyone who loves Barsony Ceramics (best known for their ‘Black Lady Lamps’), lusterware (ceramics with an iridescent metallic glaze), old car stuff and vintage industrial – this shop is for you.
While Lismore Collectables caters for a wide range of vintage hunters, this shop is most definitely 50’s supercool. Pick up dead stock (old but new) vintage dresses, men’s bowling shirts and a hand-picked collection of pinup clothing from all over the world including Hell Bunny Clothing, Hearts & Roses London and Voodoo Vixen.
Owners Anna and David are true vintage seekers and some of my favourite local vintage shop owners. They know all the history of the items they sell (I’m still obsessing over a magnificent blue porcelain swan that had originally been won at the 1957 Lismore Show), play great music (Depeche Mode, The Cure, Bauhaus; to name just a few) and are genuinely lovely, lovely people.
Plus if you shop here – guys, you too can look like a young Johnny Cash and girls, you can look like Sophia Loren in ‘That Kind of Woman’! It’s bombshell heaven.

TRASH BYRON BAY – BYRON BAY VINTAGE
There is always a place in my wardrobe for some of Trash Byron Bay’s rockstar-worthy threads.
Channeling Cher, you’ll fall in love with their insane collection of authentic 70’s and 80’s vintage including platform shoes, glittery scarves, oversized sunnies, go-go dresses, 70’s appliqué tees, (faux) fur jackets, shearling, cropped tanks, wide-brimmed felt hats, knee-high boots, paisley bell bottoms and velvet jackets.
Each and every piece appears to have been hand-picked with casual glam in mind (and a “I’m with the band” ethos), perfect for festivals, tour buses, drinking Tequila Sunrises, listening to vinyl, combi-cruising or reading your zodiac.
Whether it’s trippy and bright, shimmery and metallic, flowery and delicate or the lushest velvet imaginable, Trash Byron Bay will leave you dazed and infused with free-loving style.

LUDO’S OLD WARES – NORTH COAST VINTAGE
If you’re of a certain age, then it’s highly likely one of your first purchases was Ripper 76’ on vinyl. While we mightn’t remember the ’20 Original Smash Hits’, the album’s cover…whoa! A naked butt cheek sticking out from a pair of ripped white hot pants. Unforgettable.
As is Ludo’s Old Wares (not so much for their hot pants, but for their hot wax). If you’re a vinyl collector, this place will have you in raptures with a collection of 5,000+ vintage records and growing!
With an owner who is an old punk rocker (and one of the nicest blokes you’ll ever meet), it’s no wonder this shop is filled with limited-edition coloured vinyl, signed albums and rare LP’s. Everything from punk, new wave, disco, ska, reggae, blues and even a category simply labelled ‘Bloody Everything’.
As well as vinyl, Ludo’s Old Wares sells all things vintage, old and antique including man cave must-have’s (vintage signs, oil tins, wooden crates, world war memorabilia), delicate porcelain, vintage mirrors, retro clothing, furniture, coloured glassware and so much more.
It’s an Aladdin’s cave. And it’s now open seven days a week. My idea of the perfect Sunday drive.

LISMORE CAR BOOT – LISMORE VINTAGE
If you love the (treasure) hunt, then Lismore Car Boot Market is for you. On the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month, Lismore Shopping Square car park is transformed into an undercover market.
While there are stalls selling new stuff (who needs that?), there are just as many stalls selling old stuff. And the Lismore Car Boot market is one of the few remaining local markets that actually still sells vintage, with the beachy markets having a more hand-made and artisan vibe.
Buy everything from furniture to clothing to knickknacks to costume jewellery, records, books, bags, shoes, lamps, kitchenalia, shabby chic tables, plant stands, pictures and so much more.

THE FAIRMARKET LISMORE ANTIQUE CENTRE – LISMORE VINTAGE
This shop is full of vintage and antique gorgeousness – all housed in one spectacular old building in Lismore. If you are looking for pristine antique furniture, homewares or jewels, this is where you need to come and shop.
They only sell seriously beautiful pieces, but the prices are so reasonable that you’ll want to redecorate immediately.
