Sunset Session : Byron Bay : Photo by Kirra Cheers

With my Common Ground partner Johnny Abegg in the land of the long white cloud… surfing, i thought we’d do a feature on just that… Byron style.

With the beaches in the Byron shire being some of the best in Australia we so are lucky and privileged to be able to surf these beaches daily. Whether it be an early down at Broken Head with the swell wrapping around the point or a sunset session at Wategos with just you and a few of your mates, there is something very special about Surfing in Byron.

We share the water with dolphins, whales, string rays and countless other marine life that pop up from time to time to say hi while you are waiting for the next set.

We hope you all get to do some Surfing in Byron some time soon, you’ll be hooked.. we are!

Surf Market to Support Local Surfer

Stone & Wood Brewing are hosting “Surf Market” This Friday night. Offering local surfboard shapers, surf photographers and other surf related artisans an opportunity to showcase their goods at their brewery, All profits from a BBQ on the night, plus ticket sales for a huge hamper of goodies to be raffled off will go directly to Troy Jackson ( T-Fest) our Friend In Need and his family.

The market will also feature surf photography by John Melik, art and fashion from local label Tallow and boards from a number of local shapers. “It’ll be a great opportunity to see some of the spectrum of beautiful, creative and functional surfboards coming out of this area,” says Jonno Cole, one of the shapers featuring boards on the night. “It’s good chance to support the local board making market and raise some money for a good cause too.”

The Surf Market will run for one night only from 6pm to 9pm on Friday, November 26. The Stone & Wood Brewery is located at 4 Boronia Place in the Byron Bay Arts and Industrial Estate. Check out all the details HERE.

See you all there for a few cold local beers, the best kind !!
