Teepee Hideaway : Byron Bay

West Of Byron Bay

It’s the first day of Summer!

As the flocks of people head for sand between their toes, and a does of sun-a-crisped skin. We head for higher ground, to the hills of the shire, where teepees and fires burn (even in summer), the cows and llama’s roam in the open pastures. Hot sunsets and sub-tropical rains, towns like Coorabell, Uki, Nashua and Nimbin, all jewels in the community crown.

The shire region is filled with crystal deposits. A place of healing. As you wander the hinterland, you too are revilatised and refreshed, ready to take on Summer and the warm months ahead…

Johnny is one of the founding members of Common Ground, who brings an element of creativity to the CG landscape through his filmmaking, photography and writing. Having lived in Byron Bay for over 15 years, moving to the area from the colder climates of Tasmania, Johnny has a strong passion for filmmaking, surfing and his local community, living a few kilometres south at Broken Head in an old School. Mr Abegg can be found out-and-about surfing his favourite haunts, drinking an early morning coffee, and lost in thought with creativity.
