Home Music Music Festival Mullum Music Festival – YOUTH MENTORSHIP APPLICATIONS OPEN SEP 14th 2016!

parcels-4Growing talent at the grassroots is what Mullumbimby Music Festival is all about. As a region that strongly identifies as music focused, many of our kids have grown up at festivals. Some were even conceived there! Their parents are musicians. They grow up not listening to radio, but live music. Sleeping behind the PA at gigs out in the hills. Or at 5 years old they’re up the front dancing at a Sunday arvo live band at the pub. When you’re love for music is seeded like this, the breadth and depth of young talent in our area is no surprise. Our region’s festival culture has seeded a very exciting new generation of artists. The artists to watch in the next decade. The artists you’ll be able to see at the very beginning at Mullum Music Festival.

Mullum Music Festival’s Youth Mentorship is now in its’ 7th year. Previous winners include TORA, who now spend most of their year touring internationally, Gabe & Cecelia (who came to national acclaim on The Voice), Annie Plummer, Merryn Jeann (pictured) & PARCELS (formerly Potato Potato – rising stars on the international circuit), Children of Moscow, and Squeak Lemaire. For young musicians seeking to find a path in the music industry, a mentor can be life changing.

Winners of each section receive a double pass to the 2016 event, a mentorship session with their category mentor, and they get to play this years’ festival. With hundreds of festival applications each year, this is a huge opportunity for anyone wanting to make their mark.
